The Sage 100 ERP 2012 Interim Release Download (IRD) was released on 12/19, and is available for download on the Sage Customer and Partner Portals. There are three separate components to the IRD: Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Electronic Reporting. I’m including highlights from the Read Me text for each module to inform you of the changes made.
The 2012 Year End IRD must be installed for continued access to Form 1099 eFiling and Reporting. Changes required for year 2012 1099-Form Reporting have been incorporated in the program. Maintenance, data entry, as well as certain reports and 1099 Form Printing have been modified to adhere to the 2012 MIscellaneous, Dividend, and Interest forms as published by the IRS for tax year 2012 filings.
During the installation of the IRD, the new 2012 boxes will be installed and will be available for all companies in the installation in various data entry, maintenance and reporting menu options, including 1099 Form Printing. The 1099-DIV & 1099 INT forms have been modified to accommodate the correct placement of the information.
For form 1099-DIV, the boxes added for form 1099-DIV for year 2012 are: 10) Exempt-Interest Dividends, 11) Specified private activity bond interest dividends, 12) state, 13) State identification no., 14) State Tax Withheld.
For form 1099-INT, the boxes added for form 1099-INT are: 11) State, 12 State identification no., and 13) State Tax Withheld.
For form 1099-MISC, corrections were made to strip commas from dollar amount fields.
Note that if these boxes were previously created (in the SY_1099Setup file) using the SY_1099Maint_UI utility, the IRD will overwrite those records in SY_1099Setup, but will not affect any paid-to-date dollar amounts already stored for the year 2012 in the data file AP_1099VendorPayments. Once the IRD is installed, the new boxes are available for all companies installed. Note that if the new boxes were manually created using the utility, prior to installing the IRD, the user should use the SY_1099Maint_UI utility to verify that the boxes were created correctly as a text or non-text field (Text Field) in the Form 1099 Box Maintenance window, and make corrections as necessary.
Form 1099 eFiling and Reporting version has been updated to 2.26 and has been modified for reporting the new 2012 1099-DIV boxes: 10) Exempt-Interest Dividends, 11) Specified private activity bond interest dividends, 12) state, 13) State identification no., 14) State Tax Withheld. Form 1099 eFiling and Reporting has also been modified for reporting the new 2012 1099-INT boxes: 11) State, 12 State identification no., and 13) State Tax Withheld.
As with Accounts Payable, the 2012 Year End IRD must be installed for continued access to Federal and State eFiling and Reporting, which is being updated to version 2.26. State eFiling and Reporting Local Codes have been updated. Federal eFiling and Reporting has been modified for the Additional Medicare Tax reporting.
Payroll programs and the tax table files have been modified to automatically calculate the Additional Medicare tax of .9% on Medicare wages over $200,000.00 effective January 1, 2013. In order for the Additional Medicare tax to calculate, prior to the first payroll in January 2013 you must:
- Install the 2012 Year End IRD
- Install the 2013-Q1 Tax Table Update
During Payroll Tax Calculation the Additional Medicare Tax rate of .9% will be automatically calculated for wages over $200,000.00. The Additional Medicare Tax will be calculated for taxes calculated and applied automatically and for manual taxes.
On the Deposit Liability page of the Employer’s Expense Summary a new lime Employee Additional Medicare Withheld has been added.
In the Totals sections of the Quarterly Tax Report 2 new lines have been added for the Additional Medicare Wages: QTD Additional and YTD Additional. Also a 3rd new line has been added printing the Additional Medicare Rate .9%.
When the 2013-Q1 Tax Tables have been installed the message: “ Employee Medicare also calculates an additional .90% for the amounts greater than 200,000.00” appears on the Tax Table Maintenance screen for the Federal record.
A report showing the employees Additional Medicare Wages and Additional Medicare Tax Withheld can be created using the PR_40 file if Crystal Reports Designer is installed.
Electronic Reporting changes were highlighted in my previous post.
